Maura Dawson

Maura Dawson was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in November 2005. Ms. Dawson is a graduate of the S.C. Honors College at the University of South Carolina where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. Following graduation she worked with the South Carolina Department of Social Services in Human Resources. She later worked with Nelson, Mullins, Riley and Scarborough as a project Assistant. In May 2005, Ms. Dawson received a Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law. At the law school, she served on the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal. She received a CALI award in Family Law.

During her first summer as a law student through her second year of law school, she was a law clerk at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina. During this time she conducted legal research and assisted the Civil Division and including the Assets and Forfeiture team. During the summer of her second year through her third year of law school she was a law clerk at the Strom Law Firm. During this time she conducted legal research and assisted in discovery of complex civil litigation matters.

Following the bar exam, she was a law clerk at the Law Office of Richard J. Breibart, LLC until her admission to practice law in South Carolina when she joined the firm as an associate. She appears in state and federal court with clients. Ms. Dawson focuses her practice in criminal defense and assisting individuals who are under investigation by law enforcement.

She is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a graduate of NACDL's Trial Practice Institute. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the South Carolina Women Lawyer's Association.
